Welcome to Davidson Early College High School

I am honored to serve as the principal of Davidson Early College High School.  DECHS has consistently been named a Best High School by US News and World Report, and I expect our current students will continue to meet the challenging and rigorous expectations of DECHS.  Our school’s vision is to graduate students who possess a growth mindset, who are empowered to succeed in college, careers, and life, and who are prepared to positively impact the global community.

As part of the North Carolina Cooperative Innovative High School program, our students continue to benefit from the expanding opportunities for educational success through the demanding coursework offered, not only at our high school, but also at Davidson County Community College.  Additionally, I am proud to announce that we will continue our partnership with the Regional Triangle Institute (RTI).  RTI will continue to provide DECHS with Customized Instructional Support and Leadership Development to advance effective teaching and learning.

As principal of DECHS, I am privileged to work with the most selfless group of teachers and students whose commitment to learning and growing is second to none.  Our teachers strive to build strong relationships with students that extend long after they graduate high school.  They work tirelessly through our seminar courses to ensure that students have the skills necessary to be successful at “life after high school,” such as career goals, furthering their education and service to our country.

My passion for educating tomorrow’s leaders began twenty years ago at North Davidson High School while teaching United States History.  It was during this time I was able to earn National Board Certification as well as a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University.  In 2014, I had the opportunity to work as an Instructional Program Specialist in Davidson County Schools helping teachers learn and grow; however, I found my heart lies in working daily with students.  Most recently I had the pleasure to serve as the Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction at East Davidson High School and while there earned my Educational Specialist degree from Appalachian State University.  I am eager to continue to learn and grow in the next year of my career alongside you, the outstanding students, faculty and parents of DECHS.

While this year will look different than years past, I look forward to the unique challenges 2020-2021 school year will bring and all that we have yet to accomplish at Davidson Early College High School.

Please know that our faculty and staff are always available to answer any questions you may have.  We are committed to your child's continued success in school, and work to help your child be successful in our rigorous, fast-paced environment.
