This is the image for the news article titled Food DriveOn November 24, 2015 the freshmen class of Davidson Early College High School made a visit to the West Davidson Food Pantry. The students took this trip to donate over six hundred pounds of food that was collected by the student body in a canned food drive. The students had signed up only to deliver this food to the food pantry, but they received something more in return for this act. The students received knowledge; knowledge of how much they were helping families in need. According to one of the volunteers at the food pantry, “this time of year during the holidays is always hard for families in need” and that “donations are always a help at any time.” This opened many students eyes up to the real problem that the communities surrounding their school were in need of help. Many DECHS students said that although they have donated over six hundred pounds of food they should do more to help. Many of the students even went as far as to ask if they could volunteer at the pantry to help these people out.  To sum it all up, this experience was just not a school sponsored event, it was an eye opener for many students of DECHS to see how much help is really needed.
